One door closes, another door opens

The end of the school year brings with it changes of staff and the TID Interest Group is no exception.

alanAlan Preis has served on the committee for many years, most recently as committee chair. He has moved to China to Shanghai American School as Director of IT after his tenure as Director of IT at Atlanta International School. Alan’s expertise and wonderful down to earth perspective, active involvement and support with the committee will be greatly missed. Alan, during his tenure, chaired numerous panels and facilitated workshops supporting digital learning in the context of international schools. Wishing Alan all the best with his new adventure.

warrenWarren Apel has also served on the committee for many years. Warren brought with him his love of data, coding, robots, Star Wars and all things techie. Warren has so many years of experience in technology in schools and a vast knowledge of so many systems. He is always able to see the big picture. Warren also brought along a great sense of humour to the group. He is moving to Japan this fall to take on his dream job at the American School of Japan.

paula2Paula Marra left us in November to head up the new STEAM committee for ECIS. Paula served as a representative of some of our littlest learners. She is a kindergarten teacher at UNIS in New York. Paula brought with her tons of enthusiasm and a love of learning. She had a teacher’s perspective to bring to our diverse group. She also brought a love of shopping and great food which always made for some fun at our conference meet ups. Paula remains at UNIS and will focus on her new committee as well as her work with the Teacher’s Guild.

We’d like to thank all of our leaving members for their dedication and service and we wish them all the best in their adventures in the future. We’re sure our paths will cross again and look forward to that day.

These departures give us the opportunity to bring in some new faces – John Mikton and Stephen Reiach. While they weren’t slated to start on the committee until June, they were so keen we’ve had the chance to work with them since March!

We still have spots for one new member – if you’re interested, please keep an eye on this space and iSkoodle. We’ll be posting application information later this month. If you applied this winter, we will keep your application active unless you tell us you are not interested any more!
